We sponsor Christmas decorating contest with the best looking decorations being recognized. Why not sponsor a "Home of the Month" with possibly the Belmont West Garden Club being responsible for driving through the neighborhood and see who has done the best job of keeping their place neat, thus, creating a neighborhood where people want to relocate. Older homes would qualify just as much as the newer homes, if the judging was based on trim lush lawns, trimmed and appropriate shrubary, clean curbs, no overgrown grass on curb or in the street and neat clean driveways just to name a few categories for judging.

whatever happened to the contract with the trash hauling company?  maybe we can have a cost break if we do so collectively, maybe we can also but some cans at strategic places in the neighborhood?

The association would not benefit from collecting for trash companies. The residents would receive a break of a couple of dollars per month ($15.00 vs $17.00) if 85% of residents used one company and the association collected all fees and sent one check. The cost benefit ratio is not enough for a volunteer to spend that much time in collecting from over 200 residents when the association as a whole does not benefit.

Below is a synopsis of the proposal:

With at least 85% of Belmont West homeowners signing up within two months and one billing, Waste Management is offering 3 options.

1. The rate for once a week curbside trash collection only would be $15.00 per month per household.

2. The rate for once a week curbside trash collection and every other week curbside recycling with the use of a 96 gallon recycling toter (the lid is a different color then the trash toter) would be $22.00 per month per household.

3. The third option is for every other week curbside recycling with the use of a 96 gallon recycling toter only (no trash services) and the rate would be $7.00 per month per household.

If Belmont West selected Waste Management as our exclusive  trash collection service, they would waive the activation/setup fee (normally $35.00 per household.

The above options would require Belmont West Association to collect the fees from 85% of our residents and pay Waste Management when billed. This would give a total savings of over $5,000 for Belmont West residents but would require extensive book keeping. This does not include saving from switching from WCI of TN which is charging about $10.00 more per month.

Anyone wishing to signup with Waste Management outside of the One Billing to Belmont West would  get the standard rate of $17.00 per month for trash service and $7.00 per month for recycling.

All the rates above are subject to the fuel and environmental surcharges of approximately $8.00 per month.
