We live on Briarwood just after coming around the curve from the Blvd and people drive way too fast.  Have speed humps ever been looked at for our roads?  I have been in many other neighborhoods that have them.  I am not sure what is required to have them put in but I would be all for it.

The most dangerous time of the day I have seen is in the mornings when it is still dark and there are kids walking or riding their bikes to school.

Requests for local law enforcement would be a proper start.
Most of these vehicles are residents or friends of residents in BW.
I have left my property at times to find these vehicles, and contacted those parties to advise them of their liability should they injure someone,
by their negligent act.

I believe that local enforcement is the best start. For me, I am far more concerned about the accidents or near-accidents that are related to cars being parked on the street

Calling the KCSD for enforcement takes several calls.
Invite them to  set up radar at our intersections.
There are school zone signs posted in our subdivision and alerting them to speeders during those hours may get their attention.
Bigger concern for me is someone walking being struck by the vehicles.
Commercial businesses and contractors also create these hazards. Please note their Co. Name and time of day and call those companies to complain.
LET THEM KNOW. Be clear that they will be in a lawsuit if their vehicle causes and injury.
If you ask for their name "for the record" that tends to alert them that they have been made aware of their employees actions, and "if it continues, there is implied negligence on their part".

i live on Briarwood, too.  yes everyone drives too fast.  but many of us do not restrict ourselves to speeding just on Briarwood or just in this subdivision.  this problem is not limited to us nor will speed bumps do much to help except going over them and blocking runoff from rain.

i guess posting bigger signs might help, but i think all drivers really do know they are consciously speeding.  all of us who do run terrible risks and usually those risks run out on people.

how about sawhorses to keep the straight lines more cumbersome to nagotiate.  saves on the suspension? Wink

We live on Briarwood after the curve past the Boulevard. Yesterday 1/18 we heard and saw a crotch rocket motorcycle scream through here at least three times. I would hate to guess how fast he was flying. My husband started down the driveway but he screamed by which is just as well as I don't want someone doing damage to our property because we approached them. There was another vehicle which screamed down around the curve to pull into a driveway at the top of the hill. There are a lot of vehicles that drive WAY too fast but I don't want to see speed bumps either. Maybe we need someone allocated to stand out with a radar gun and make citizens arrest. These flying vehicles are ridiculous and something does need to be done. That crotch rocket yesterday was UNBELIEVABLE and what they don't realize is it takes only a second for a child or animal to dart out and then WHAT?

Suburban Hills has gone through the process of looking at speed humps and will soon be voting on whether to approve speed humps on neighborhood streets. An information sheet of the process can be found here, http://www.knoxcounty.org/epw/pdfs/suburban_hills_traffic_calming.pdf
